Brought a 5-foot red cable from the giant box of 
them we had - replaced the old cable with that. 
Doing so made it log in quickly and reliably.

The computer won't log in anyone.  They can get to
the ctrl-alt-delete page but it just keeps
spinning after that.  They have tried to restart
the computer but it still keeps getting stuck. 
They have waited 30mins one time and it still does
nothing.
