First problem is the power adapter is not the 
adapter that belongs to the laptop.  So the 
laptop will not charge properly.

Ran a hard drive diagnostics, now the computer 
boots up properly.

The network error goes away if you wait 30 
seconds to a minute before trying to log on.

brought in laptop to fix errors:
1) says wrong adapter
2) when logging in it will say either "network
error" or "check disk drive"
