Jay is going to take his laptop into one of the 
Phoenix Apple stores to get his battery 
replaced.  I let him know that AppleCare 
mentioned the repair is covered under the 
laptop's existing warranty. I also sent Jay the 
serial number of his laptop so he can give that 
to the technicians at the Genius bar. I let him 
know that if he is unable to take it in before 
coming to WOU, I could take it in while he is 
here for repair.

Lori,

TRI has deleted their price request(8147) for the
battery.  Does Jay know what he needs to do to get
the battery replaced by Apple.  If he does go to
Apple on his own can you have him forward
any"reciept/invoice" of work done to our office so
we can put it in the file?

Our Apple rep gave me a quote for the magsafe 
power adapter; not for a laptop battery.  
Called Apple to see what we need to do to get 
the battery replaced and it needs to be 
completed by an Apple technician.  Emailed Jay 
to see if he wanted to take it to an Apple 
retailer (which I was told by Apple that it 
should be free of charge under its current 
warranty) or if he wants me to try to have the 
part shipped to the Corvallis MacStore and I 
could take it in for repair when he arrives 
here.

Hi Joanie,

TRI is going to submit a Purchase Request for a 
replacement MacBook Air battery for Jay Gense 
and it should go through today.  Jay works 
primarily from his office in Arizona but will 
be on campus next Tuesday through Thursday.  
Once the request comes through and has been 
approved by TRI, is there any way to expedite 
this order so he can get his battery while he 
is here next week?  If not, he will not be back 
on campus until mid-January.

I am also forwarding you the quote from Apple.

charge and I emailed Joanie and also sent her the 
quote from Apple.

quickly she can process the order and let her 
know the situation.  Hopefully we could 
expedite this for you.  If you want to submit 
the purchase request today, I can talk with her 
when she gets in to see if she can get that 
going right away.

thanks for this - if we process this 
immediately, how long does it take to obtain 
the battery, and then how long does it take to 
install. I¿m asking because I primarily do my 
WOU work from an office in Arizona, traveling 
to Oregon only once monthly. I¿ll be on campus 
next Tuesday-Thursday, then not back until mid-
January.

Sent the quote to Jay and let him know either I 
can submit a purchase request or he can submit 
one.  I would just need a departmental index code 
to submit a request if he wants me to do that.

replacement battery for this laptop, but I had 
to leave a voicemail as our representative was 
away from her desk.  If I don't hear back from

Replacement laptop batteries require a Purchase 
Request be filled out as they are an additional 
cost.  If you like, I can call Apple to find 
out the cost of a replacement battery and 
contact you once I receive that so you can see 
the cost of the replacement battery and we can 
go from there.  Let me know how you would like 
me to proceed.

I¿m hoping you can help me. I have a MacAir laptop
(20120370). The battery life is horrific,
depleting very quickly. I¿m only able to maintain
portable use for about an hour. Is installing a
new battery a ¿big deal¿? Can we do that
internally, rather than having to send it back to
Apple? Does it take long to order a new battery,
or do you have some available at UCS?
