Hello,

You can certainly use an external drive with
USB 3.0 drive in your current laptop. The
drive will only run at USB 2.0 speeds, however,
when transferring any data, but it will still
work using a USB 2.0 port.

If you are looking to see if you are able to
add a USB 3.0 card to your laptop, you can
contact Tricia Flaherty and she will be able to
let you know if it is possible and give you a
price quote as to the cost of the part.

Thank you,
Lori

Hello,

I have a three/four year old laptop issued by
WOU (serial number 20111079). Is it possible to
add a USB 3.0 port to it? I need to purchase an
external hard drive and they all seem to
require a 3.0 port.

Thank you.

Siobhan
