The drive will only run at USB 2.0 speeds, however, when transferring any data, but it will still work using a USB 2.0 port. If you are looking to see if you are able to add a USB 3.0 card to your laptop, you can contact Tricia Flaherty and she will be able to let you know if it is possible and give you a price quote as to the cost of the part.
