I emailed Dirk.  Tricia is ordering him a larger
external.  I offered to meet with him and/or setup
an appointment to map network drives.

Nick mentioned that Dirk was upset because after 
upgrading (installing OS 10.8 from scratch to 
allow for the installation of Logic Pro) the 
computer, their locally saved concert events had 
been erased.  Unfortunately, we cannot recover 
anything that was saved locally as all sectors of 
the disk have been over-written.

Anyone logging in to the local account should be 
able to map a network drive, such as an I drive, 
to save any data that can be shared among the 
students/staff that has access to that drive.  We 
would be more than happy to show them how to 
connect to a network location if they are unsure 
of how to do that on a Mac.

They also connect wirelessly and do not have an 
available data port on the second floor of Smith 
Hall.

when I looked at the computer i saw that there was no issue with 
space. (he miss read available as unavailable) we then talked 
about a reimage that the computer had during winter break. 
when looking into this we as of right now have no recored of this 
re image. but dirk thinks that because of the re image they lost 
all of the final concerts for the winter term that were recorded to 
that machine. They store the data on the computer itself and a 
external hdd and the profile they use seems to have no 
connection the the network drives.

Please let him know that we recommend saving to a 
network location as we back those up nightly.  
Should anything happen to his hard drive, it is 
unlikely we would be able to recover any data.

He called in stating that his C drive was full on
his computer and he would like to delete some
files but cannot see all of them to select which
ones he wants to get ride of. He would like
someone to come take a look at it and help him
locate all the files.
