Hi there,

I talked to Dave about your service request and he
made some great suggestions.

a) He made changes to your account that should
fix that group policy/ drive mapping issue when
you log in. You may need to disconnect both your
K and J drive (right click -> disconnect) and then
log out/log in.

b) He provided better detail regarding the
"concurrent user" error. Atlas creates a "lock"
file each time someone logs in and opens a project
that keeps another user from making changes
(concurrent use could break files). This lock
files fails to delete properly (and "unlock" the
file) when everything in the project doesn't get
closed properly. When you save a new copy, you
lose the files that are still 'locked'.
Therefore, saving it to an external hard drive or
other computer folder would not fix the problem.

The good thing is that we can delete the lock when
this error occurs. If you encounter this again,
please close Atlas and follow these steps:

1) Make sure that there truly are no other users
accessing your project files on the K drive.
2) Enable file extensions (should only have to do
this once on a computer) :

Displaying the File Extension in Windows Vista and
Windows 7

    Click the Start menu. ...
Type "folder options" (without the quotes). ...
A dialog box with the title "Folder Options"
will appear. ...
Click to uncheck the box for "Hide extensions
for known file types".
Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the
dialog box.

3) Go to the folder that your project is saved in
and locate the file that has the ".lok" file type/
extension. It should say something like
"yourprojectname.lok" .

4) Delete the lok file and reopen your project.

Hope this helps!

Let me know if you want me to show you any of
these steps or if you have any other questions.

The user was encountering multiple issues,
primarily on one of the lab computers, but
sometimes on the others. Computer wise: the
cursor would freeze and items lists would
automatically scroll without user input. Software
wise: they are using Atlas.ti and get a concurrent
user error which locks the file. Will talk to
Dave about this. User also has a drive mapping
issue (K: and I:)

This is regarding Computer 20130660[Edit Inv], Todd Hall
305.
The computer in this lab is having weird
glitches, including thinking that there are
concurrent files open and only allowing read-
only files to be opened.
This problem has been recurrent now, and I need
help asap. This is a computer that multiple
students and myself use for multiple tasks and
projects.
