I updated drivers, removed the USB cable and went 
into the Epson Scanner Settings and turned 
changed it from local to networked.  I was able 
to run a scan without getting any errors.

Can you please go look at this. Maybe delete the
drivers and re add them. I went down there and the
scanner is not being recognized at all and its
getting a warning that I explained down below

The scanner in Disabilities is giving a warning
every time they go to scan and it is preventing
them to be able to scan. 

Warning says: "Rear USB Port is unavailable.
Disconnect USB cable. Press OK to return."
