Hi Gay,

Sorry for the delay. We don¿t really have a VPN
set up, but we do have an alternative that should
work in China.

Point your browser (IE or FireFox) to
https://wouvdi.wou.edu
Click the button: VMware Horizon HTML Access
Login with your username and password
Click Lab Stations

That will launch a Windows desktop that lives here
at Western. From that desktop, you can open the
portal and email. (there is a link on the
desktop). Since your webmail is running here at
WOU, it is essentially like a VPN.

Give this a try from home (if you can) to make
sure it will work for you here.

Let me know if you have any questions.

-Paul

Gay Timken is traveling to China May 12th-May
20th. Her goal is to stay current with emails and
have access to students and help them when
possible. She was told by a colleague at Oregon
Sate Univeristy that she would need a VPN
installed onto her computer to get the access she
needs. She isn't entirely sure what at VPN was and
how it functions. She isn't entirley sure how to
go about this process of setting up access for use
in China.
