Megan,

So we won’t focus time on fixing it but I do need
a new laptop. Preferably one with a bigger monitor
screen.

What are the next steps? Do you send me options?
What’s the turnaround time on getting it here?

CM,

As per our phone conversation, I'm following up
with an email for SR62600. You asked to get
W20140481 (in our records show that James Brune
was using this off campus) reimaged. As soon as I
open the laptop I knew something was going to be
wrong with the unit. It looks like something
smashed the right side of the keyboard badly. The
bottom of the case is cracked even, it also looks
like James took this machine into a 3rd party
computer shop which now we have no record of what
they have done to the machine.  When the case is
cracked we have to send it in, instead of UCS
working on it. Sure enough I was not able to start
the reimage because no hard drive was found. The
hard drive is in the machine but is dead which is
a warranty replaceable item but due to the damage
on the machine, not sure if Dell will cover it.
Also, it looks like someone tried to scrap off the
engraving of the W# on the front of the machine.

I need more information to be able to work on this
machine, yes it is in warranty but since its
damage and been worked on by non dell trained
shop, I'm not sure what the cost will be.

CM is picking up one of the laptop chargers, it is
up front, laptop and other charger are at my desk,
bag in the "IN" box

I went to start imaging this laptop, no partitions
were found. I started the hardware test, no hd
found. Called CM,she just got this machine from
James Brune. I need to email CM with what I found.
It looks like the laptop was worked on by a 3rd
party company, stickers on the back. There is also
a huge dent in it, seems like something fell on
the keyboard. After test, looking to see if the HD
is really in the laptop
