I deleted the mouse and keyboard and restarted the
computer and the mouse was able to be paired again
and work

He is having to reboot his machine quite a bit do
to his wireless mouse unconnected. Restarting the
machine seems to be the only thing that will re
connect it. 

He has put new batteries into the wireless mouse.
