Karen called back saying the problem is still
occurring. She will be available for pick up of
the laptop to be looked at again until 12 and from
2 - 4 today. She will also need a loaner laptop
that has admin rights.

every startup and not run.

I took out the RAM and put it back which fixed it.

I got back the Loaner W#20100330[Edit Inv]

Dear UCS,

It appears that my computer may be doing OK after
all.  I've had no glitches/beeping all weekend. 
Originally, a tech was going to come and retrieve
my machine and let me keep the loaner MacBook Pro
that I was given on Friday.  Instead, would it be
possible to simply hang on to both for the next
few days?  If "mine" continues to function
normally, it'd be best NOT to wipe it and do a
rebuild.  Hopefully we can avoid that altogether!

I had to go back to her office. The Mac was making
the beeps. She has to uninstall Rosetta Stone but
she has to call the company to get the key off. I
gave her the same loaner back and will pick up her
Mac Monday. Then I will give it to Ranjit because
he worked with this Mac before

I'm not sure if I have a service order number, but
today I called in about my computer making "triple
beeps" and freezing.  One of the techs determined
that it was likely a RAM problem and  picked it up
this afternoon (Thursday).  He did bring a loaner
in its place, which I appreciate.

The reason I am writing is to ask that files and
programs (especially programs!) be left intact as
much as possible, rather than "re-imaged".  I ask
this because, this past fall, the re-imaging was
quite a prolonged and complex process, especially
for the Windows Parallels stuff, but there were
other issues as well, and updates took forever. 
If there's any way the RAM issue can be dealt with
but have the machine otherwise left "as is", I
would be most appreciative!

If it has already been "wiped", well, I guess it
is too late.  But if not, please let the tech
working on my Macbook Pro know this--I should've
been more diligent about this earlier.

Also, if UCS needs to keep my computer for
awhile--especially if you do have to re-image
(aargh!)--then I really need Administrator
privileges on the loaner so I can do things like
hook up to my home printer, install flash for
viewing some videos needed for classes, etc...

She explained that occasionally her Mac laptop
will start beeping and then freeze and usually
turn off and she has to restart the whole thing.
She said she will either be in her office (NS 001)
or across the hall in NS 004.
