Hello Debbie,

I would not worry about these specific messages
and ignore them until you are able to bring the
laptop back in to get checked out. We are still
using the Sophos program but sometimes when
laptops are not on campus, they look for other
means of security and protection. Thank you for
checking with us first and let us know when you
are back so we can look further into your questions.

Thank you,

Emma

****This is an email****

This laptop belongs to the LAS Dean's office and I
have it with me while I'm on vacation to check for
emails, etc. while I'm out of the office.

I have a flag icon with a red circle with a white
x at the bottom left corner and it's giving me 3
"important" messages:

1) "Find an antivirus program online." I was
under the impression that, when the UCS tech
person went throughout the whole HSS building a
week ago, our security systems were all updated
(including my laptop)? I mentioned that I had
been getting a message on this laptop saying that
Sophos could not be updated so he said he'd take
care of that. But I no longer see Sophos anywhere
on the laptop - is WOU no longer using Sophos?
Are we using something else now? What should I do
about the message?

2) "Change Windows Update Settings" - does this
mean it wants to change me over to a newer version
of Windows?

3) "Turn on Windows Firewall - Windows Firewall
is turned off or set up incorrectly."
     - when I click on the "Turn on Now" button I
get the message "Action Center can't turn on
Windows Firewall"
     - so I clicked on "Turn on manually" link and
it takes me to the box "Update Your Firewall
setting"; I clicked on the "Use Recommended
Setting" box and I get the following message:
     - Windows Firewall can't change some of your
settings - Error Code 0x8007042
     - so now what do I do?

Debbie
