Windows updates will not work right now because 
it's managed through the network; the stuff 
that we want to have is run in the background. 
That is, if anything Bradley Karkanen has said 
in the last few weeks is the be believed.

I don't know what we should tell the user, 
however.

Wasn't able to get windows update to work using the 
below fix. Used update catalog to install important 
updates. 20161096[Edit Inv] is updating on small stand up 
desk.

Open Notepad or WordPad and copy/paste the

Save the file to your desktop as UpdatesFix.cmd
(you'll have to click the "Save As Type…. Dropdown
arrow on the right of the selection window and
select "All Files" before you click the Save button).

Would recommend using the windows update troubleshooter, usually 
fixes issues with updating
