got it to update without problems and found a work
around for the new folder problem. shes ok with it.

Hi There,

I am having some trouble with my computer. The 
first problems is that  I am getting a driver 
error for a program called ManyCam that I use to 
record lectures from an attached camera.  It 
tells me that the driver is not up to date and 
will no longer recognize or connect to the 
camera.  I used it on Friday, but it quite 
working after this time. 

I also noticed at this time, that my computer 
will no longer let me create new folders to save 
information within my documents. If I try to 
create a new folder, the computer will freeze, go 
black for a moment, and then comes back as if I 
never tried to do anything. 

Finally, I just tried to check for windows 
updates, thinking that I could update the driver.  
However, I keep getting an error message that 
will not allow me to even check for updates.  

My computer is 20150605[Edit Inv].  I will be up on campus 
on Wednesday and could bring it by UCS if you 
would be available to take a look at it?
