I found a wireless 10 key that was wedged under 
the keyboard.  This was causing the enter key to 
be pressed down so it was trying to load 
everything several times.

They ran sophos and it came back as all clear in
like 20 seconds which he found odd. He couldn't
get into sophos to try again and is unable to shut
the computer off or get to the control panel. 

He unplugged it from the internet for now to be safe.
