I'm not sure there is anyone on campus with a 
master key (my division is without our trusty 
program assistant right now) so unfortunately 
the upgrade will need to wait until after 
break.  Can I contact UCS once I'm back and 
able to look at my schedule for a good day?

For a normal update, that is correct.  
Unfortunately, this is a total installation of 
a new operating system, so need physical access 
to the computer.  If there is someone who can 
let me into your office, I can run the upgrade.  
If not, I can do it overnight once you get 
back.

Hi Anthony,

I'm off campus until Jan 6th but I thought that 
the upgrade was going to happen remotely - I 
left the computer on but I'm logged off.  Can 
the upgrade still happen?

Hi Janet, 

In order to run the update for you, there are a 
couple things we'll need.  

First, please make sure that all files on your 
computer are saved to your H Drive as the 
computer itself will be completely wiped during 
the installation.  

Second, would you like us to upgrade your 
computer to Windows 10 in your office during 
the day, or would you rather we take it out and 
run the upgrade overnight?  The former would 
put your computer out of commission for a 
couple hours during the day, while the latter 
would likely put it out of commission for the 
last hour of the first day and the first hour 
of the second day as we start the update and 
then set it back up for you.
