Hi Katherine,

I installed the new Lightroom on my desktop
computer at home, running Mojave. My old version
of Lightroom was 2015 running on El Captan, so I
jumped over Sierra. The upgrade worked perfectly
and pulled in all my photos with their tags
intact (phew!). I've uninstalled the earlier
versions of Lightroom, so I'm legal now.

I'll try to upgrade the MacBook Air later this
weekend.

Basically, we need to update her to at least 10.13,
she worries about losing her photo tags for 70,000
photos. She has Adobe CC 2015, so you will need to
update that as well.

Hello,

Yes, we can start the first few steps on March
2nd at 1:00. The person who will be taking care
of your computer starts work around 2:00ish (his
name is Bradley), so I'm unsure if it will be
ready by 3:30. He knows quite a bit of
information, in regards to Adobe CC, so its best
to ask him about the specifics about your desktop
computer. Our office does close at 5:00PM, so we
can try to wait an extra five minutes for you,
but if your meeting runs late, we won't be able
to give you your laptop until the following day.
Additionally, just as a precaution, if you have
any files on your computer, back them up to your
H. Drive or USB.

Ugh--what a pain that will be. So I guess I'd
better drop the computer off with you. Will it
work to do the first steps on Tuesday, Mar. 2 if
I bring it in around 1:00? Would I be able to
pick it up again a little after 5:00? I was
considering going to a meeting that ends at 5:00
(though if the computer were ready by 3:30 I
might skip the meeting).

What does this mean for my own desktop computer.
I had to upgrade to Mojave when the hard drive
failed (only two years after buying the machine)
and when I restored the files, it installed Adobe
CC 2015 on the computer. I tried to upgrade last
summer but it only let me install the new version
of Lightroom--not upgrade the old one. So I have
Lightroom 2019 on my computer, with no files in
it. Do I have a problem because I skipped Sierra?

All of the other Adobe CC applications have
updated to 2019 with no problem.

Hello,

We can definitely have it finished within half a
day. However, you have the option of updating to
Mojave 10.14 at home. You can use the following
link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210190
Scroll down to step four and make sure to click
for Mojave (not Catalina). It will redirect you
to the AppStore to download it. It is very
straightforward and might take about 1-2 hours.
However, if you feel more comfortable you can
drop off your laptop with us, and we will update
it for you. We can also update any additional
programs like Adobe DC, and Office. Please let
me know what you would prefer.

Thank You,
Katherine

Hi Katherine,

I'm actually on FMLA this term after some
surgery, so I'm not on campus much. I'm
tentatively planning to be there next Tuesday
afternoon, March 3, and Monday afternoon, March
9. Most of my data is stored in Dropbox, though
there are some files with photos on the hard
drive.

I might also be able to find a colleague willing
to drive it to campus (I live in Corvallis),
which might be preferable as I'm not sure about
staying on campus for a full half-day. Could I be
sure to have the computer ready to take home by
the end of the day if I drop it off to you a bit
before 1:00 on either of the days I will be
there?

Mary

Hello,

I'm Katherine with UCS. It looks like your
MacBook Air is currently running an outdated OS.
We need to update it to the latest OS 10.14
(Mojave). This means your computer is at risk of
cyberattacks and can lead to your information
being stolen. Normally, updating the OS is about
half a day depending on how much is saved on your
computer. If you can let me know some dates and
times that are most convenient for you, it would
be appreciated. If you have any questions feel
free to contact our front office at 503-838-8925.

Thank You,
Katherine
