Revisited this today. User had middle monitor (VGA) displaying very low resolution. Updated drivers and that didn't fix it. Had to turn off the laptop monitor so only 2 monitors remained, which fixes the issue. Updated the "change what closing the lid does".

We unplugged the laptop let it sit for 30
seconds and the TPM message was gone. We then
went into the Power settings for the lib and
tuned it to sleep, saved, turned it to do
nothing, saved and now its working again. This
also fixed the resolution. The resolution was
off because it was supporting 3 monitors.

From Shea:

Submitting for Darin,

He's seen the message "TPM device is not detected" 2 or 3 times in the past week. F1 to reboot and it appears to come back fine.

He has also been running his laptop with the lid closed and using two monitors. Now when he closes the lid, it appears to go to sleep. With the lid open his resolution on the left monitor is much reduced from what it was before.
