If that is the case, I will go ahead and close the ticket, and I recommend reimaging the laptop. Putting a fresh copy of windows / macos on it would take off any unwanted programs and things running in the background, free up storage and overall make the device run smoother. All this would require is taking any data / files that are physically on the device and putting them into cloud storage of some sort like the H drive. Let me know what you think about this,

Hello -
Yes. The computer is/has been in my possession. I was off for the summer and it was here on campus. I have no idea what Sophos is, so not sure if that is relevant or not. It did need a new battery, which was installed last year. It is quite slow overall and the network connection seems to get lost a lot (which is problematic as I need to use the laptop mostly on wifi as I carry it into exam rooms).
Anyhow, if you think there are updates that can make it run better, I am up for trying as our department doesn' have funds right now (who does) for new equipment.

We have a service request, #76467, regarding a 
laptop (#20160393) that was having problems updating 
Sophos back in 2020. The ticket at the time said it 
was in the possession of Jennifer King, but she has 
since left WOU. The most recent service requests 
regarding the laptop listed you for a contact. I was 
curious if you possibly had the laptop, and if it 
was still needing Sophos updates or anything else 
looked at on it?

I need some additional information regarding service

Description: [MEDIUM] Alert for Sophos Central 
[Western Oregon University]: A computer is out of 
date

I was emailing to clarify that this ticket is still 
needed? It dates back to 2020; I was wondering if 
Sophos still needs to be updated on the laptop, 
#20160393[Edit Inv].

What you need to do: Update the computer as 
follows. In the Sophos Central Admin console, 
go to the Computers page. Click on the computer 
name to open its details page and then click 
Update Now.
