Hi Feier,

I need some additional information regarding
service request #76555

Description: Both office computer and the wifi on
personal device are very slow

I'm Katherine with UCS. We received a task for your
office computer and personal device. I'm checking
in to see if this is still a problem? You can email
me or call our front office at 503-838-8925.

Thank You,
Katherine

Feier,

I'm sorry you've been experiencing a slow computer, what is the WOU# for your desktop? Microsoft often runs updates on its own every night, so that frequency could be considered normal. All I can really offer right now is having a tech take a look to determine whether an image of the machine (wipe and reset) would be helpful for you. We would happily do this if you are able to bring the CPU to our office anytime between 9am and 4pm. Due to lack of staffing and the Welcome Center move this week we are short staffed right now and can't do many in office visits.

For your mobile device I recommend contacting your service provider with details about wifi connection. Since it is a personal device there isn't much we can do to help.

Let me know,
Stephanie

Hi there,

I have had two problems since the first time I came back to my office at the beginning of this term: first, the computer in my office (DFSC 213) has been slow; sometimes it can take minutes for it to just open one small file, and sometimes it just stops responding. It also seems that it asks to do Windows updates very frequently, and if I click on restart for the Windows update, it would take hours to restart and finish the update, and sometimes,it would ask to do an update again even if I just did an update the day before.

Another problem I have is that the Wifi on my personal device (my cellphone) has also been very slow every time I am on campus and using the campus wifi. It has never happened before this term, and my cellphone is not slow when I am connected to another wifi network (such as the one at my home).

Can you help me with the problem I have with my office computer? Are there things I need to do on my cellphone to use the campus wifi without it being really slow? Thank you!

Thanks,

-Feier Hou
