I had called and let her know about the computer.
I'm going to remove the hard drive and put it in
PDR. They are going to replace the laptop out of
their department fund.

Hi Tammy,

I need some additional information regarding
service request #77121

Description: possible image? dropped off dying
laptop for us to try and save

I'm Katherine with UCS, I worked on Colleen's
computer these past few days. I ran diagnostics
on this computer and tried to do a few fixes, but
it looks like this computer is completely dead.
It currently doesn't recognize the hard drive,
which means you won't be able to boot into
Windows. Unfortunately, we don't carry this type
of hard drive and this would be something your
department would have to replace. Depending on
the size, the price can vary between $100-$200.
Additionally, the battery is nearing it's end of
life, which means it will need to be replaced.
Dell sells the replacement at $159. Overall, I
would suggest to invest in a new laptop instead
of trying to fix this one. I can go ahead and
send this to PDR for recycling, if you are okay
with this. I know you guys have this week off, so
let me know when you come back if I can go ahead
and send this to PDR or you guys would like to
try replacing the parts.

Thank You,
Katherine

They ordered two new laptops through joanie but
would also like this to be looked at in hopes that
it can still be functional.
The CDC is closed next week for spring break.
