Hi Shaun,

I need some additional information regarding service request #77595

Description: GFA replacing 20161088[Edit Inv]

I was in contact with you last month regarding a GFA replacement for your current computer. I apologize for the delay in more recent contact. 

I believe you have already picked up your computer, and our agreement was I would set up your monitor, etc. in your office without an in-person meeting. Is this correct?

To clarify, would it be acceptable to you if I accessed your office via Public Safety and finished the setup?

Tell me if this will work:

I am happy for you to set up the new monitor, etc. in my faculty office (Bellamy Hall 217).

We can make an appointment for me to come by and pick up the laptop and do the initial login. If next Tuesday (9/7) works for you, I think that should work for me. Morning or afternoon shouldn’t matter, but I will be coming from Corvallis. So, preferably, not first thing in the morning.

Also, I will return my current laptop. I let UCS know that the battery had stopped taking a charge last Fall. A couple of months ago it stopped booting up altogether.

I’ll get back to you early next week with a clearer answer about scheduling set up and how.

I did not know I was getting a new computer. What kind of computer is this?

As far as I know, I will not need anyone else to have admin rights. I also do not think I will need installation of additional software unless there will be an issue with me installing from the Apple App store - I have a number of third party apps that are important to my workflow.

I will also say that I am cautious about coming to campus. I have family members who remain vulnerable to COVID 19 and even after vaccination I have been careful to minimize my risk of becoming a carrier and transmitting to others. What will coming to campus and getting the computer set up entail in terms of in person contact and being indoors with others?

Your computer is imaged and ready to be delivered and set up. 

Do you need any specialty software installed? The computer already has Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other standard software. 

Will anyone else need admin rights besides you?

Please let me know when a good time would be to meet so we can set up your computer and equipment.
