Tried new adapter and new cable. Not working. New 
loaner monitor is having same problems. Seems to be 
an issue with the iMac. iMac isn't seeing any 
connections of a second monitor.

After disuse, iMac suddenly not connecting to external monitor; tried switching various cables and adapters, as well as bringing in a loaner monitor. The loaner monitor was confirmed to work with a different computer, but wasn't detected by the iMac. Thinking it's either an issue with the thunderbolt ports, or possibly a software issue (computer is on 10.14 Mojave).
