Hi Ava,

This is Moshe from UCS. I'm working on resetting the Macbook (W20200876) you brought back in a little bit ago and there is still an activation lock on the device that needs to be removed. The device password I was using is not valid anymore which means that you will have to sign out of your Apple ID account in order for me to erase everything on it.

Would you be available this next Monday (Oct. 31) after 1 pm to come in and do this?

Macbook has Activation Lock on it and the device password does not work anymore because it was entered incorrectly too many times. We'll need to have her come in and sign out of her Apple ID account.

ellis says just to install sas on local machine and she wouldn't use the terminal servers anymore

cause they shut the terminal server down

1. she's been super busy with teaching and hasn't had time to do research
2. she has a bunch of stuff packed up, including a laptop purchased for her with research funds (not gfa) in 2019. she hasn't been able to find the laptop yet, and she won't have time to look for it until summer. she's waiting to work on software installation until she finds this computer; she won't need spss and parallels on the new machine if they are already on the research laptop.

she will eventually need SPSS and Parallels
she wants to know how to "remote desktop onto terminal [server] to use SAS"

asked mcevilly about this. he said he doesn't think there is a terminal server for SAS anymore (they turned off all the terminal servers because they were too great a risk? and dave said he thought we contacted ava to tell her about this in relation to SAS (a while ago, i assume))
so we'd just have to install SAS on a machine?

he said to ask ellis too

Good Morning,

Thank you for your email. This sounds good. You should be able to install Remote Desktop from the App Store. Dave McEvilly said we do have SAS on TS2, though it is an older version. We are able to switch Camtasia from your old machine to your new. When would you be able to bring in your laptops so we could do this?

TS2 is a terminal server located here on campus (Dave M. runs it), kinda like VDI in a way.  It is a Windows environment with applications pre-loaded on it.  Microsoft makes a Remote Desktop app to connect to it.  For the Mac it can be found on in the Mac App Store.  Windows just has it preinstalled with the OS.

Hi Lauryn,

1) Lets pause on the Sigma plot. In 2019 I was working with Tricia to get this moved onto a PC laptop that I purchased with some research funds. I need to go look and see if that ended up happening but I probably can’t do that until I wrap up this term’s teaching and final project grading. 

2) I was trying to figure out how to access SAS. I seem to remember when I did this a few years ago from off campus I would first connect to campus on a VPN, then I would use Microsoft remote desktop and connect to TS2. I don’t think I have Microsoft Remote Desktop on my new machine and I’m not even sure if you are maintaining SAS on terminal server 2?

3) This is a new item to add to the list. I need Camtasia on my new machine. I’m still having to use my old machine to make video recordings for class.

looking at old tickets with sigmaplot

it looks like it has to be delicensed and uninstalled before reinstalling and licensing?

installed new setup; 20150201[Edit Inv] still with user and will create a new SR for the outstanding GFA return

- ava was also asking about how best to access SASS on new setup, and was interested in getting sigmaplot on the new device as well.
sigmaplot is windows only, so she needs parallels as well to run it. 
parallels/sigmaplot is on current setup, not sure if license can be transferred or if a new one needs to be purchased etc.

- also have to wait and see if printer issue from 77734 persists on new setup
