the only battery we have for this is the one that didn't work; the one I tried to use as a replacement for the other laptop (20190349). it didn't work again (unsurprisingly, as this is the same laptop model). joanie now has pictures to send to Dell.

Hello, 
Yes, you are right that the computer you have was in for diagnostic purposes. 
We are wondering if something about the software we are using (the Branagh/ERS specialized software) drains the battery. 
Since we've already replaced that battery, I guess there's nothing else to do except the decreasing performance.

Good Morning,

Thank you for your email. From my understanding, only one of the computers--the loaner--had a battery request put in. Your computer is currently in our office solely for diagnostic purposes. Is this correct?

I have been looking into the health of your battery. All diagnostic tests passed. The battery's health is "excellent." Looking more closely at the battery logs, it appears that your battery is operating at around 70% of design capacity, and the charge should last about four hours.

Given this information, what would you like the next steps to be? To extend the battery charge, we could decrease laptop performance (you can see this setting when examining the battery popup at the bottom right corner of your screen). Beyond this, a battery replacement is the next step. If you would not like to pursue this latter option, you are more than welcome to pick up your laptop at your convenience. Please let me know how we can be of assistance.

battery health in bios is "excellent."

ran powercfg command in powershell
design capacity: 31,000ish mwh or smth, charge lasts 5 hrs
current capacity: 24,000ish mwh, charge should last 4ish hrs

so... the battery isn't amazing, but it's okay

currently charging computer. once it's full, if i have time, i will track how long it takes to lost power.

(this is confusing)

asking joanie if she knows anything else about the battery orders (unlikely). 

will look into battery health on her computer that is in our office (not the loaner).

Thanks for your reply. 
The battery replacement on order is only for the loaner tablet - 20190352[Edit Inv] - which is currently in my possession because my primary work tablet is at UCS (20190349).

The one currently in UCS' possession already had its battery replaced, but still wasn't holding a battery charge for longer than 2 hours (give or take) after I picked it up several months back. Once unplugged, it would indicate it had 4 hours of battery life, but the battery would rapidly go down and the charge would be gone by around the 2 hour mark with only the ERS/Branagh software open and running. That's hopefully what is being investigated. 

Can you please confirm if that has been looked into?

Good Morning,

I apologize for the wait and for all of the confusion. The original email you received saying a ticket was closed was sent because I closed a duplicate ticket. Your computer is not ready yet.

A couple of weeks ago, we received a battery for W20190349, which appears to be your main work machine. A purchase request was put in for the wrong battery, so Joanie Kinnaman is working on ordering the correct battery. We are waiting on this. I will let you know when your computer's battery has been replaced and it is ready to be picked up. Thank you for your patience.

From what I understand, the loaner you are borrowing from your department is also having battery issues, so a purchase order was made for it. Once this battery arrives, assuming it is the correct model, and you bring in both that and your loaner laptop, I can replace the battery in this loaner computer.

As of now, we are waiting to receive the new battery to replace the old one in your primary work machine. I will work to get this computer back to you as soon as is possible. In the meantime, if you have the battery for the loaner computer, I am more than happy to work on that so you are able to use a properly functioning computer until we are able to service your main computer.

Hi, 
I might have not explained it clearly, my apologies. 

I left my original Dell Latitude tablet at UCS a couple of months ago because even after a battery replacement, the tablet won't hold a charge for more than 2 hours or so (our field work requires the ability for a 3-hour battery life minimum). 
I don't have that tablet's ID number. 

I was issued a loaner from our department's stock of 2 extra Latitudes by UCS. That number is 20190352[Edit Inv]. This loaner did not receive the new battery upgrade that the rest of our tablets did, and so a purchase order was made for a battery. (I will follow up on the status of that order with the email you provided). Once the battery arrives, I will need to bring 20190352[Edit Inv] in to have it installed OR to get my original tablet back which has hopefully been repaired. 

The only contact I have received regarding the original Dell Latitude was this a few days ago:

A couple of months ago, I picked up a loaner 
tablet (2019352) while my original was being 
checked out for a quick-dying battery (even after 
battery was replaced). 
I am checking if my tablet is ready for me to pick 
up? 

Also, Ikaika Alapa'i made a purchase order/request 
for a new battery for this loaner tablet (2019352) 
as its battery has not yet been replaced and it 
has a 2 hour battery life. Is that battery now in 
stock? 

I live in Hillsboro and can make a plan to come to 
campus as soon as I hear these items are ready.
