ran diagnostics again, no issues reported.
finished updating / installing software and everything seems good so it's ready to go!

SRD informed user that the computer is ready, placed in outbox for pickup :)

reimaged, might've accidentally upgraded to monterey but it's running well now (??)

prior to imaging however, i ran hardware diagnostics and these issues came up:
- battery needs to be serviced (AD reference code PPT002)
- possible issue with SMC (PFM006)
- possible issue with camera (NDC001) //tested before imaging, and was functional just took a long time

haven't been able to reproduce screen flicker or static, but did notice high fan rpm, system lag, possible trackpad issues
originally bottom of case was slightly distended so I thought it was a battery issue, but when the computer was returned the case was normal.
bad battery COULD be causing some of these, but diag just returned diminished capacity and not a performance problem.

all of the above have been resolved after imaging (other than battery needing service),
going to run diagnostics again to double check.

gave him a loaner for now: 20150416[Edit Inv]. May just need 
to re-image his laptop and see if that helps 
(warranty expired 5/14/2021). Make sure there is 
nothing on the hard drive that he needs.

I have re-booted and deleted many large files. So

Hello UCS,

This is Mark Henkels from Political Science. My 
computer, a MacBook Pro (20170873) has just 
started to make a faint static sound, sort of like 
white background sound. It also seems to be 
flickering a bit this morning.

I am working from home today, but would it be 
possible for me to bring it to your office 
tomorrow (Thursday) and have you look at it while 
I teach from 10:30-12?

I know you are busy, but this would work really 
well for me.
