Hi David,

I took a look at the Western Digital 16tb external 
drive you brought in, and I believe the sound issue 
present is a natural feature of the drive 
(annoying, I know!) Others have complained online 
of the clicking noise present on these drives in 
specific, and it looks like it's part of safety 
feature to prevent wear on the disks. I saw that 
the drive still functioned as normally, and all 
your stuff is still present on the external drive 
(about 30gb's worth). I could drop this by to you 
on campus, or you could pick it up here at UCS

I just plugged it in and it does make a weird thump 
sound every so often, it's one 'click' every so 
often and other than that it seems to work.

John needs to contact the WD company, but he's not 
going to be in until my last week. I'll try and let 
him know before leaving.

I opened it and am trying to see what happens, but 
it's not doing anything
