Hi,

Whatever the problem was a month ago resolved itself after I logged into a window asking for logging into my Google Docs account and then the misbehaving computer began behaving properly.  I've had no problems for over a month.

Hi Stephen,

I need some additional information regarding service request #80856

Description: Wou Portal can't be reached on 20160963[Edit Inv] (may need updates, but user has no admin rights) 

Are you available anytime in person to diagnose this? It would help having the desktop logged in from your account to replicate these issues and fix them.

Jfack,

The computer is a biology dept Dell desktop of 2016 
vintage (the 20160963#) I swapped out for an older 
2013 Dell desktop I have had in my NS 204 office (it 
totally crashed after moving very slowly for quite a 
while and on Friday finally failed to reboot).   My 
"officially-assigned" computer is a Dell laptop 
(20181362) -- it's running fine.

The current 2016 Dell desktop in my office boots up 
fine, does Zoom fine and gives access to the various 
drives with no issue.  The issue is both Chrome and 
Firefox -- which did work when I first started it up 
on Friday, quit working.  A complete Windows 10 
update was run successfully (after about 2 hrs) on 
Tuesday -- but that did not resolve browser 
functionality.

I'm off campus, but I'm fine with you entering the 
office and checking the browser issue.  I have the 
machine on, but I'm not logged in to it.

Is this laptop still having issues? Also, may we get 
the WOU number for the computer itself? It seems the 
one we have on hand was for the dock that plugs into

The updates took about 2 hours and it's complete now 
but when trying to visit portal he is still getting 
the error: "This site cannot be reached".

He is installing the updates now, somehow the button 
popped up, so he does have admin rights. He will let 
us know if the updates helped him access portal, so 
for now, no one needs to check on him.

Steven Scheck called in to report that 20160963[Edit Inv] 
can't access or connect to the WOU portal. I had 
him clear his cache, and that still didn't work. 
He tested the internet on his laptop and he was 
able to reach the site but the desktop can't even 
though it says it is connected to mash.wou.edu. 

He is hoping a tech can stop by today as he will 
need to use the device for a meeting tomorrow. 
When we were doing some troubleshooting, there 
were updates needed, but he does not have admin 
rights to install. 


You can give him a call to see if he is available, 
should be available all of today.
