I entered the product key, the application was temporarily
unresponsive and then returned an error saying the application attempt
to connect to WinHttpSendRequest: 12002 timed out.

Andrew found a site that mentioned TCP port 17778 not being open is
the most common reason for this error.

Tried installing license manager. Uninstalled it.

Checked spw.ini. Tried activating via the command-line interface.

Andrew downloaded a SentinelClean_V4.exe program and ran it, it
successfully deleted something.

Attempted to activate again. Still no dice.

Did a complete uninstall, didn't realize until after that we don't
have an installer for V14.

Dear Mr. Logan,

Thanks for contacting the technical support!

I’ve just sent you the new activation received from the license
administrator. In fact, the license administrator has informed the
product key registered to this serial number of 775422473 has exceeded
total allocation of 4 activations per the tool he has used and
verified the activation availability status. However he has decided
to allow one last one which I’ve sent to you today. I hope the new
activation would work. Thanks!

Ah ok, instructions were clearer this time around.

I uninstalled the license utility as instructed. After re-launching
the license utility, I now see only the SL-UserMode fingerprint now.

I've attached the properly formatted .C2V file.

You need to make sure to access the License Utility screen with full
admin account and then make sure the SL-AdminMode fingerprint
information should not be listed inside the .c2v file. Therefore you
need to open the License Utility screen and then make sure to
uninstall the license manager software by clicking the Uninstall
License Manager button inside the License Information tab. Then make
sure only the SL-UserMode fingerprint must be listed inside the .c2v
file before sending the file to me. Thanks!

After another email to the technical support agent a couple days ago
over email, the agent got back to me yesterday with a machine
specific perpetual license. I attempted to activate it and it failed.
I exported the log and emailed the technical support agent. I did a
diff (comparison) of what I had sent the agent to produce the
license, the admin fingerprint is exactly the same, the user
fingerprint is different but it should not matter because we are
activating as admin user.

I have asked the technical support agent how to proceed from here.

Dear Mr. Adam Logan,

Thanks for contacting the technical support! Since I’m working from
home, there may be a delay on the responses.

Thanks for being patient once again! The license administrator has
accepted my request and I just have finally received the standalone
Machine Dependent license file which used the c2v files you’ve sent
out. This license file only works with the computer that you’ve
generated the .c2v file. This license file is perpetual type. please
use this procedure and go through the updating process with the
license file. Make sure to use on the computer you’ve generated
the .c2v file.

In order to use the license file and update, please save the attached
license file on your computer Desktop environment or for easy access.
Then go to the location where the program is installed, Start –
Computer (This PC) – Windows C: drive – Program Files
(x86) – SigmaPlot – Spw14.0 and then scroll down until you get to see
the SPW_14_LicenseUtility.exe file. Then right click the file and
then click Run as administrator to display the SigmaPlot 14 License
Utility screen.

Then select the .V2C and then click the Browse button and point to the
license file. Once the license file is selected, then click the Apply
License button.

Once the license file is updated successfully, then you need to right
click and click Run as administrator command line to open and the
program first and then close the program if the program opens. Then
relaunch the program with normal clicking. Let me know if you need
further assistance. Thanks!

To my knowledge we still haven't received anything from Systat, and they should be able to get us access to v14 since it's only one version old / not fair for them to take money and not support a still new / fairly new version.

Hi,

I was needing this during my fall sabbatical to work on some data for my project, but right now I am teaching full time and will not have time to return to this project until summer at the earliest. It would be great to get access to this again, but it is not time sensitive for the moment. As such access right now to a time limited (eg 30 day) trail would not be useful.

I look forward to hearing other solutions.

Thanks!
Ava

Hi Ava,

I need some an update regarding service request #81695 regarding the Sigma Plot License Code.

We have been unsuccessful with an online approach to activating the license even with a technical support agent representative from Systat on the phone.

We have started the process to activate the license off-line January 18th. The offline activation code should only take a moment for Systat to create, unfortunately there appears to be only one person responsible for that and until that person gets around to our case there is not much we can do. The Systat agent also informed us that V14 Sigma Plot it now considered old, and V15 license holders get priority service over V14 license holders. The agent also let us know that if the license has been activated 4 times already the license is considered consumed and they will not provide us with an offline activation code.

The Systat agent gave us instructions that would enable us to restart the trial for Sigma Plot. Would you like the machine back and trial activated while we wait?

Let us know how you would like to proceed.

The prod was unsuccessful. Systat agent says it is up to the licensing administrator to get around to activating our license. Until then there's nothing the Systat agent (or I) can do. The agent gave us instructions on how to restart a trial if needed. I am thinking it's worth asking Ava if that would be acceptable

****update from Adam****

I emailed asking for an update and they responded we have low priority because this is for V14 license and V15 license holders get higher priority 🙄. They're due another prod. I'll prod thrm now, this is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for something that should take just a moment.

Called Systat software technical support.
He requested product key and serial. Jack helped me find it on Installs Drive. I provided the details over email with the agent at email dkim@systat.com. Waiting for him to respond with further instructions and hopefully an offline activation file.

As Jack mentioned below on 1/9, the server does state that it's unable to connect to the Sigmaplot server due to antivirus, and mentions Sophos. I
disabled Sophos for the machine and had John try to run the licensing utility, and it still gave the same error.

Joanie has already gotten us the new license/key back in November, so this is a new license that Sigmaplot has given us. It's possible they gave us
the wrong license/key.

It does not appear that Sophos is blocking the software from contacting the server since disabling Sophos doesn't enable the software to license. It's
in the realm of possibility that Windows Defender could be blocking Sigmaplot, but this is not something the Systems Team would assist with.

I have let John know. John suggested that the students try installing the Sigmaplot v14 on a newly-imaged computer that doesn't have anything else on
it, to see if it licenses that way. I think that's a good idea. John also mentioned that Desktop Support could contact Sigmaplot directly and verify
the key is valid. I think that is also a good idea. But I will ultimately leave that decision to John.

I believe we still need the key unlocked / fixed from the company themselves. - or, if my memory was correct. it looks like it was prevented by sophos on the machine.
