Hi,

I was able to stop by my office today to identify
the WOU # of the computer (see attached image).
However, this was not until later into the
afternoon than I'd planned - my apologies for the
delay. Hopefully this is the appropriate number
that you need. It was the only apparent ID # I
could find.

I will be present at my office tomorrow, from
about 9am until 4pm, and if anyone from UCS is
available to speak with me about the issues I've
been experiencing, I can certainly make time at
any point (other than from 1-2 pm) tomorrow. I
attempted to troubleshoot and connect to the
printer/copier again today with no success, and
have still not been able to update Chrome without
administrative permission.

Please feel free to have someone reach out to me
at their earliest convenience at 503 883 1553, or
via this email to schedule an appointment if
needed. I do not anticipate that I will urgently
need to print anything out before Friday of next
week, but it will be helpful for me to resolve the
issues as soon as possible.

Once again, I must apologize for the delay in
communication on my side regarding this topic. I
hope to hear from you or another representative
soon.

I appreciate your time and assistance, and I hope
to hear back from you soon.

Regards,

-David

Hi Laurie,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, and I
must apologize for the delay on my side. I was not
able to make it to campus this afternoon to check
to see what the WOU # of the computer is. However,
I will be on campus early tomorrow afternoon, and
will get back to your department at that time with
the # of the computer and also my cell phone
number (503 883 1553). If permissions can be
granted over the phone or remotely, I am perfectly
fine with simply discussing the topics with a tech
over the phone (if that's most convenient for
them), and will be happy to schedule a time for
this call tomorrow when I arrive to campus. If
there is not enough time for assistance tomorrow,
I will be on campus all day Friday and can speak
with a UCS tech at any point that they may be
available on that day.

Thank you once again for your time and assistance.
You can expect to hear from me again tomorrow with
the requested information.

Have a good evening,

-David

Hi,

My name is David Solvedt, and I am an instructor
of Chemistry at WOU. My office is in DeVolder
Family Science Center, room 211.

In the last week of the Fall term of 2023 (just
prior to and immediately following the network
outage), I was having issues with connecting to
the printer/copier in DFSC, and some of my apps
were not able to update (google chrome
specifically). I was logged out of my Microsoft
365 account and had to reinstall the package to
have access to these apps. During the last weeks
of the term, I was unable to print my final exams
and other resources, and had to have others within
the department do this for me. We attempted to
troubleshoot, but had no success connecting to the
copier, and I also was not able to update chrome
without administrative permission. I am hoping
that I can have someone from UCS meet with me this
week (Friday would be most ideal for me), or early
into next week if at all possible so that I can
assure that the systems are updated and working
properly. Is this feasible for anyone within your
department?

Additionally, when/if ever we do meet, I would
also like to discuss data storage and security
with someone. Specifically, in the trainings on
Portal, it discusses storing files on the H drive.
However, the computer in my office is a Mac OS,
and the file locations/drives are not specifically
labeled as they are described in the training. I
just want to make sure that I am storing files in
the appropriate drives and also that I have the
appropriate security filters in place on my
computer.

Is there a chance that I can schedule a time to
meet with someone from UCS at my office in the
near future to address these topics?

Thank you for your time and assistance, and I hope
to hear from you soon.

-David
