Jie Liu came in, got him hooked up to our network
and checked to make sure he is an admin. Everything
looked good, he has picked up the laptop so I will
be closing this ticket down.

Hi Jie,

I need some additional information regarding service request
#82958

Description: Reimage 20170856[Edit Inv]

I was able to reimage your laptop and im happy to say it is running
faster now. I would still recommend moving to a newer latitude
because you’ll get double the ram and have an actual cooler in the
laptop.

Let me know if you’d like to come get the laptop or move toward a
GFA replacement.

Thanks,

-Brady

Talked to Jie yesterday, said he would talk to
Joanie about getting a new GFA computer. He would
like to get a new 2023 if possible. Wants 1TB hard
drive and the 32gb of ram we offer with the new
laptops.

Good Morning Jie,

I was able to take a look at the laptop and found out that the
computer doesn’t have a fan in it (by design), so im concerned
that the slow down you’re experiencing is due to having no cooling
mechanism in the computer.

After talking to John about a solution for swapping your hard
drives he noted that it might cause more problems if we swap
them due to driver installation issues. A possible resolution we
have is to reimage the computer we have and have you log into
chrome on it. That way we can see if you keep your passwords.

Another option we have is to have you apply for GFA set up
through Joanie. The hard drive you currently use in your 2014
laptop is half the size of the one you gave me (according to our
records).

Let me know if you have any questions and what steps you’d like
to take to get the resolution that works best for you.

The will actually work out very well, I’ll have all day Tuesday next
week to work on getting the image set up correctly. I’ll meet with
you at some point tomorrow and clarify exactly what you want the
resulting image to have.

The plan is to drop the laptop next Monday after my class at 4:00
pm and pick it up before my class on Wednesday before 12:00
noon :). Hope that works for you.

Thanks,

If you want to, you can. I can also talk to you about it tomorrow
before/after class. I have a class from 10:00-11:50, so it’s up to
you if you want to talk before class, but I’m happy to stay after if
needed.

It sounds like something that shouldn’t be a huge issue. Just some
clarifying questions to make sure that I image the device in the
way you would like it.

I also want to note, this week I am working a half day on Thursday
and I have Friday off, so I might have to pass it onto another tech
to work on it, that way it could be ready by Monday at the latest.
Unless you would like me to specifically work on it, you might not
have either laptop on Monday next week.

Let me know your thoughts, or if you have any questions.

Jie,

That works! Would Monday next week work for you?
If so, what time works best to swing by and drop
those off?

Best,
Mary

Hi Laurie,

The laptops are at home with me. I go to school on
MWs. If it just takes a few hours, I can drop the
units next time I get to school. If it takes
longer than a day, I'd prefer to bring in the
computers on a Monday and pick them up on the
Wednesday so I can have the computers during the
weekend to work on my classes.

Thanks,

Hi Jie,

I need some additional information regarding
service
request #82964

Description: Reimaging a couple laptops

It is possible we can put everything from your
2014
laptop onto your 2017 laptop. If you're around
today
I can pick them up. I'd also like to talk to you
in
person about it because it sounds like you may not
need a full reimage. Let me know your availability
this week.

Thanks,

-Brady

Are both of these devices with Jie?

The 2014 I am unsure if we can take the drive out, it may be soldered. if they both have NVME's, this will be awesome, because we could take both of them out and clone them using our machine.

Good Morning Jie,

I will put in a service request ticket for our
techs to assess this inquiry when they are
available. Where are you located and are you
looking to have the reimage done soon? Let me know
when you can!

Best,
Sam

Hi there,

I am currently still using my 20140457[Edit Inv] because the
last time reimaging it to 20170856[Edit Inv] was not
successful. Is it possible that we image 20170856[Edit Inv]
using the data on 20140457[Edit Inv] (including all cookies
and passwords)?

Thanks,
