He wanted a few more things than originally asked; I 'solved' the TV issue for the time being by plugging directly into the TV,

however, he needed help printing from his personal laptop which I showed him how to do from VDI through portal.

Then, I am taking on the task of figuring out why he isn't using his assigned laptop.

His wife is currently using his assigned laptop because her's was some dated unit from 2015 and didn't work too well.

When I check inventory, I definitely see that older laptop, but I also see a new 2021 macbook pro under her name too so I inquired about this; why would she need to use his old laptop if she had a new one.

Just sent email for clarification.

Hi Tim,

Description: Needs help connecting computer to TV in OPE 212

I wanted to follow up on our visit; I talked with our Network Engineer and he said that the ethernet port we had the cord plugged into should be active now, so if you try plugging in the cord and turning your wifi off, you should be getting ethernet internet after that.

I have made a video, I just need to edit it a little bit, about how to connect to printers on VDI. I will send that out when I can.

Would you be able to remind me the user that is using your WOU laptop currently? I can look up both your laptop and theirs through our inventory.

I hope your morning is going well,
-Jack Martinis, UCS Tech.

He also wanted help: how to access department drives, ethernet hook up for his macbook, how to print - he was using a personal laptop and I showed him how to do this through VDI - how to print and access his H drive.

None of the department or share drives came through, which is weird because I thought they did on VDI.

His current assigned computer is being used by another faculty member as the one they had was too old and or not working.

I told him to email me about this, with the WOU numbers of the devices in question so we can get this figured out for both of them and have both of them on university equipment.

Was able to connect the macbook to the tv by direct hdmi connection; the tv went to a weird splitter box which went into the wall and out through the wall again... way too confusing for me to figure out right now; either way, the hdmi cord wasn't working and we plugged it away from that box and directly from the tv to the macbook itself to fix the issue.
