****This is an email****
Hi Daniel,
We've tried charging your laptop for extended
periods of time. I've tried removing the battery
cables to see if it would discharge as well but
I'm not having any luck.
Unfortunately Apple doesn't use hard drives
anymore, they use onboard storage that we cannot
remove.  Your device is also out of warranty so
any repairs would be at the expense of your
department.  From my experience working with
Apple, they pretty much always wipe data
from devices we send into them.
The only way to recover the data would be to use
an expensive data recovery service. Let us know
how you would like to proceed.
Apologies,
David

ello,

I'm writing this email just as a follow up. I
dropped off a laptop this morning at the UCS front
desk. It has stopped powering on. If it can be
fixed, that would be great. If it's not fixable,
could you please pull the hard drive for me? There
are files on there I'd like to retrieve. Please
don't wipe the hard drive or dispose of the
machine. Thank you.

Daniel

Its at the front right now, letting it charge so I
can see if it really won't turn on.

Daniel Tankersley stopped by to drop off 20180311[Edit Inv].
He says that he can't get the Macbook to turn on,
even while trying to charge it. He brought it over
to see if we can salvage it (get it to turned on),
if not he would like to hard-drive to be saved and
given to him so he can retain the files on it.

Send him an email for updates.
