yesterday to see what you had found and 
they relayed that you stress tested 
everything without any issues popping up.  
Totally understandable.  Yesterday I made 
sure to shut down my laptop and turn off 
both my monitors, and I came in this 
morning to this screen again:

took a look at the set up, ran dell command updates 
and tried running 4k youtube on all 3 screens, 
buffered but didnt elevate the fan speed on either 
the laptop or dock.

Hi Tony,
I'm not going to be on campus much longer today but I plan to leave my laptop (and 
obviously my dock) here at work and only take my loaner home.  I'm not on campus on 
Mondays so you could stop by any time that works for you?  I'm in RWEC 259.   If 
Monday isn't good I have plenty of availability other days.  I'm flexible!

Just so you know, the new dock started making the same fan noises almost immediately 
after getting it. I just unfortunately don't have the time to keep running back and 
forth to UCS. I have a small desk fan that I keep handy when my office is hot so I 
pointed it towards the dock and that helped the dock quit making whirring noises.  I 
also propped up the dock on some markers so it could get more air underneath.  I just 
don't understand why this keeps happening!   Maybe it's somehow my laptop after all?

It started immediately after being given the new 
dock.  I turned my little fan on and pointed it 
towards the back of my laptop and the dock and it 
has helped, but obviously not enough.
I can still use the device but without the fan the 
dock might overheat?

occurring once more. When did it start?  I have 
updated your previous ticket with this information 
for our techs to troubleshoot the issue. Does this 
error impede your usage? Are you still able to use 
the device?

brought back her original laptop and a replacement dock and dock charger, hopefully this will alleviate her fan issue. She will let us know if it is still problematic.

update: the weird revving/fan sound has stopped
I talked to my husband who has the tech knowledge and he said it's not good.  The problem 
is I'm working from home tomorrow and then at a work conference Saturday through Wednesday 
where I need a device so I'm not sure what's best to do.

Hi there, my laptop fan(?) is making some pretty 
weird noises.  It's hard to describe but it 
doesn't seem to be going away (it's happened maybe 
5 or times now in the last couple weeks) and 
sounds like the fan is about to go out.  It kind 
of revs repeatedly and then stops, but right now 
it's not stopping. 😬
