Thanks, Kyla - my computer number is 20171225[Edit Inv]. I'm
available today between 2-3:30pm and tomorrow
between 11am and 3:30pm. I can bring the laptop to
UCS if that is easier.

I've just been trying to use the native file
extractor on my computer - in File Explorer. I've
also already tried moving them out of the files
individually and that doesn't work. When I select
a file and drag it out, it just doesn't go to the
location I point to. I know that you're trying to
be helpful in providing the instructions for how
to do it...but I promise you that I know how to
extract zipped files 😅 I've done it before many,
many times. This isn't a case of me just not
knowing how to use my computer.

I don't have WinZip downloaded so I can try that
if I need to, but I don't think downloading a new
program will help since that will just take up
more room on the hard drive, which seems to be the
issue?

Thanks again,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Can you provide your device's WOU# as well as your
availability today and tomorrow so I could create
a service request for our techs to look into it?

Another thing- what program/application are you
using to extract your files?

Based on the screenshot you sent previously, you
are currently using a PC. With PCs, you can use
File Explorer or a program like WinZip.

Using File Explorer
- Double-click the zip file.
- Select Extract All.
- Choose a destination folder.
- Click Extract.

Using WinZip
- Open WinZip.
- Select the file(s) to unzip.
- Click Unzip.
- Choose a destination folder.

You can also extract a single file or folder by
dragging it from the zipped folder to a new
location.

Best,
Kyla

****This is an incoming email****

Hello - I've deleted everything off of the
computer that I can think of...all temporary
files, all downloaded files, all files saved on
the hard drive and it's still not giving me enough
memory to extract these files that I need to read
by the end of the week. I can't work like this...
I just submitted a request for a new computer,
which is overdue, but is there anyone else there
who can advise me on how to get to these files in
the meantime?

I'm also wondering if my current docking station,
monitors, etc. will work with the new laptop or if
I need to submit a new purchase request for all
those?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

I would go through and keep deleting as much as
you can. Making sure to delete files you are not
using anymore if possible. Unfortunately, that is
all I can think of to free up enough storage space
for you.

Best,
Mary

Hi Mary - I updated my web browser (which I do
regularly), but it's still happening. I also don't
think it's that the file is corrupted because it
has happened with multiple files from multiple
senders. It does seem possible that it's because
I'm out of space. My computer says it has 5GB free
and the files are not even close to that large,
but based on the red bar (see below) my computer
does look pretty full. The weird thing is that I
really don't have that much on it, so I can't
figure out why it's so full... I regularly delete
large files I have downloaded and I hardly save
anything on the hard drive. As you can see from
this screenshot of my storage, the majority of my
storage is used by "system and reserved" so I'm
not sure what to do about that... I've tried
deleting large programs as well, but the largest
ones are ones that I need for my work, like Adobe
Acrobat, SnagIt, and Camtasia. Any thoughts?

Good afternoon Elizabeth,

There could be a few reasons why you are having
this issue. It could be that you need to update
your web browser, your storage on your device is
full, and or the file if corrupted. You may want
to try using a different compression tool to
extract the files or you can try re-downloading
the zipped file. Give these a try and let me know
if they work for you.

Best,
Mary

Hello - anytime I receive a zipped file and
attempt to extract the files, all it does is
extract an empty folder. I've never had a problem
with extracting zipped files before, but first
noticed it a few weeks ago. Any ideas?
