The device has been reconnected to jamf, all 
software has been reinstalled, and it's now hooked 
back up at Rice. I also made Ray an admin and showed 
him how to add additional admins.

I need some additional information regarding service 
request #86993

Description: iMac OS Update

I picked up the IMAC from you earlier today and I 
just wanted to make sure there were no files you 
needed off it before we reimage the computer.

Hi, Dyllan,

  The computer is ready for reimaging and 
installation of replacement software. It's 
currently located in the lower control booth (on 
the seating level) at Rice Auditorium. You may 
take it elsewhere to work on it, but we will need 
it back in Rice no later than April 28.

  We will need the latest version of QLab, or the 
most recent one that the UCS license covers. 
Joanie Kinnaman has the details.
  We also will need some other open source and 
free software that we can install. In order to do 
so, please create administrator accounts for 
myself, Noah Adams, and Nicole Morgan. 
  We will also need permission on each account to 
allow us to connect the machine to a standalone 
router and network that we use for this computer 
to connect to our lighting console. That 
permission level will need to allow us to view and 
change the computer's IP address for usage on our 
standalone network. All changes made by the three 
of us on those accounts need to propagate to all 
user accounts. Using the standalone network is the 
only viable means of making that connection--which 
would not be possible through a WOU network and  
which is vital for operating lighting and sound 
effects for our stage productions.
  Please also create a user account with no 
administrative rights other than opening and using 
software, which includes downloading files for 
usage in the applications. That user account 
should be titled productionoperator and the 
password should be PROD0P. 
  I have backed up the files, so wiping it will be 
OK.

Hi Ray,

I need some additional information regarding 
service request #86993

Description: Mac OS Update

Hello my name is Dyllan and I work for UCS here at 
WOU. We have been trying to fix the device 
W20190481 but it is continuing to refuse fixes. We 
will have to reimage this device which will wipe 
all of the data off of it. We need to know if 
there is any special software it has? When can we 
take it for imaging? Imaging takes 1-3 days but if 
it is a device that is absolutely necessary we can 
get a loaner device ready. We strongly recommend 
checking the device for any data you have on it 
and back it up before we take the device.

Went in and Ray already updated the Macs to Sequoia 
but we were unable to reconnect to jamf because we 
kept getting errors.

Sounds great!

The projection computer I noticed was on a 
different network that is correct, I am unsure of 
the configuration of that computer. I would test 
to ensure it still functions correctly.

The sound computer will continue to make alerts 
due to it not connecting back to our servers 
(JAMF)

I'm looping ucs help desk in this email to make a 
SR to have a tech come out and get both computers 
reconnected through jamf, hopefully tomorrow since 
I am out all day tomorrow.

Both are online now using the WOU Secure network. 
The Projections computer has a message about 
signing in to the VPN. The Sound computer is 
getting a message that says its OS isn't up to 
date, despite it being macOS Sequoia 15.4.

Good morning,

Here at WOU systems security is one of our highest 
priorities, according to our inventory system the 
mac computer W20190481 is listed under theatre 
sound computer.
This computer's operating system is closing in on 
being severely out of date as it is not currently 
compatible with our universities endpoint defense 
technology and not receiving security patches from 
Apple itself. 

Due to this, unless the computer is updated in the 
next few months we will be forced to disconnect 
from the network until an update is applied since 
it will officially become classified as a security 
risk. 

Please follow the attached directions in the .pdf 
file below for steps to update your operating 
system as soon as possible, and reach out 
following an update to let me know this has been 
resolved.

Of course if there are any issues, feel free to 
contact me/ucs help desk and we will be more than 
willing to assist.
