Regina's laptop was somehow swapped. That's why she
was unable to log in.

Hi Regina,

So I was looking over our tracking list where we add local admin accounts to
TRI computers. The computer you are referring to, 20210779[Edit Inv], has no info about
a local admin account ever being added. We have advised TRI that before
sending someone home with a computer to work remotely that we need to add the
proper accounts to those devices. This is not the first time this has
happened. Unfortunately, given this situation, there is no way for us to
remotely help you.

If you bring the computer with UCS, we are happy to add the proper local
account so you can use the device without a domain connection.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Best,David

Hi Regina,

Remote workers will not be able to continuously use their domain account (lastnamefirstinitial) unless
they regularly bring their device to campus and connect to a WOU network.

On TRI devices, UCS creates local admin accounts for users to be able to login when they don't come to
campus.

When you are at the login screen and see MASH at the bottom, the computer is trying to pass your
credentials to the domain controller but it cannot connect.

On Windows you must type .\ before the local account user name. This will change the MASH to the name of
the computer W********. If the laptop was set up for you, you be given a username like this rdusenbury
most likely.

If the laptop was not set up for you, I can get on a zoom call and walk you through a process to create a
local admin account.

Thanks,
David

Hi Regina,

I need some additional information regarding service
request #87167

Description: TRI remote staff - unable to log in to
the device

I was reviewing this ticket and think it would be
best for you to bring in this device so we can take
a look at it.

Thanks,

I work remotely and have been able to log into my
laptop in the past. It is showing only an option
to log in as ‘other’. I was all set up in the
past. What can I do?

Are you on campus or working remotely?

Typically, that message means your computer is not
connected to the university's local network which
prohibits you from signing in.

For TRI, we always recommend that they come in the
office and log in to the computers and we'd help
them set up VPN and ensure that their login
credentials are active before taking the device
with them.

Best,
Kyla

Hi. I am having trouble logging into my laptop. I
put in idusenburyr and my password. It said to
sign in to mash. I tried follow the directions to
add W20210779 but that did not work. The message
says my domain isn’t available. What can I do?
thanks
