This is actually the first time I've been in there and it's really beautiful. 00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:17.000 But the way the pre-nursing students talk about it or my friend who is a chemistry major talk about this building excites me just being a student here. 00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:23.000 The DeVolder facilities have manifested through generosity, imagination, diligence 00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:30.000 persistence, creativity, planning, analysis, fiscal management, and most importantly teamwork. 00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:35.000 All of the characteristics that define Western Oregon University as an institution. 00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:42.000 It is important to know that the DeVolder project resulted in this building but that is was a combined effort through 00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:47.000 design and planning to augment the natural science building to add these facilities. 00:01:54.000 --> 00:01:66.000 I want to just bring greetings from the Oregon University System, tell you how delighted I am to see this campus grow and have the promise of increasing educational opportunities. 00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:16.000 As you all may know we have a goal in Oregon to make sure 40% of all Oregonians obtain a bachelor's degree or higher by 2025 00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:20.000 and this building as a down payment on that obligation. 00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:27.000 As your touring this place today you will see many interesting and confusing things, science stuff 00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:34.000 hardware, machinery that you won't understand and much of it can be complex, 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:39.000 it is to me you know VCR's came and went, I still couldn't set one up. 00:02:39.000 --> 00:02:47.000 So you will see things like that, but the thing I want you to focus on just the one thing. 00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:52.000 Through that very same door, looking out those very same windows that you're going to be looking out 00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:61.000 will pass the very individuals who will acquire the knowledge to make actually to build a better world tomorrow.
