A lot of crazy things happened, 00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:04.000 and we plan to go even farther next year. We plan to not just win our conference 00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:08.000 we also plan to hopefully win western regionals and go off to regionals 00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:13.000 and be able to compete even more and more and last even longer in our season. 00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:18.000 music 00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:24.000 Ashley Gardner: I've played my best this senior year so I couldn't ask to go out on a better note, I couldn't ask to go out with a better team 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:29.000 I could always tell that they like had my back, and even when were down in a game we would come back 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:42.000 music 00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:49.000 Lonny Sargent: For me this season was incredible. It was one of the most enjoyable runs that a team can have 00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:55.000 and I have never been a part of a team that has been this close on and off the field. 00:02:55.000 --> 00:02:60.000 cheering 00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:05.000 I was drawn her to W-O-U because of the campus, the environment. 00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:11.000 I think it's a great place for kids to get an education, and I wanted to be a part of that. 00:03:11.000 --> 00:03:16.000 Kelli Demianew: Coach Sargent is a brilliant and educational coach. 00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:21.000 Brandy Knowles: Coach Sargent is a person who will never lose faith in you, even if you lose faith in yourself. 00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:24.000 He is always there to back you up and make sure you do the best you can. 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:29.000 Amanda Evola: He really loves and cares for every girl on the team. 00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:36.000 He puts forth so much effort into the practice into the games, and carries it, and you can see it in his passion. 00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:39.000 Kelsie Gardner: He helped me become a better player by pushing me every single day 00:03:39.000 --> 00:03:44.000 and expecting more and more. He really expects his players to excel everywhere 00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:49.000 like in the class room, on the field; and it's really nice to have someone behind you, even though your parents aren't here, 00:03:49.000 --> 00:03:53.000 to have Coach Sarge be pushing you every step of the way with every little subject. 00:03:53.000 --> 00:03:56.000 Ashley Gardner: He just really has turned this program around. 00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:60.000 We hadn't won the GNAC since 2008 and we won it his second year here. 00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:05.000 We got second place his first year here, so it's really exciting and kind of scary for the other teams 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:08.000 that we have such a great coach, and to see how far he is going to take us 00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:15.000 Lonny Sargent: The biggest thing that we stress is working hard on the field and off the field, in the classroom. 00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:20.000 We just want them to represent themselves, represent the school, represent the program 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000 to the best of their ability, and true success will come from that. 00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:29.000 Brandy Knowles: Out team is really cool because everybody comes from such different backgrounds, different places. 00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:35.000 On the field we just unite so much as one and we just all have that same common goal, just to be the base we can be 00:04:35.000 --> 00:04:40.000 Kelli Demianew: We're a bit goofy, we love to have a good time; but when it comes down to it, we also like to win 00:04:40.000 --> 00:04:45.000 and will do anything that we can to get that win, whether it be in the classroom, in the weight room, or on the field. 00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:50.000 Kelsie Gardner: I don't think I've been a part of a team that had more chemistry. 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:55.000 We all love to be around each other every single day. Like when we come to practice we're all excited to see each other 00:04:55.000 --> 00:04:61.000 we miss each other, and so it's really fun being a part of this team. We help each other off the field as well 00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:07.000 like if someone has a weakness in a subject area, there is always someone on the team who is like, 'Oh I can help you! 00:05:07.000 --> 00:05:12.000 Lonny Sargent: We look for a few things; players that are competitive, players that have drive. 00:05:12.000 --> 00:05:18.000 players that are good students, and probably most importantly 00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:21.000 good community members and good family members. 00:05:21.000 --> 00:05:25.000 Ashley Gardner: I had a couple of choices as to where; I wanted to go and play softball and get my degree. 00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:31.000 And in the end I was drawn to western. Sometimes you just like have this feeling kind of in your heart 00:05:31.000 --> 00:05:38.000 that like this is the school that I'm going to feel at home at, this is a school that I'm going to want to be at for the next four years. I just really felt that. 00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:44.000 Amanda Evola: Playing softball at western is important to me because I feel like I have made some of the best friends of my life. 00:05:44.000 --> 00:05:50.000 And I feel like it has helped me grow as a person, as a leader. 00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:55.000 So I feel like Western has really made me be the person I am today. 00:05:55.000 --> 00:05:62.000 Lonny Sargent: Some of the things that set us apart are our facilities; our outdoor facility, our indoor facility. 00:06:02.000 --> 00:06:09.000 Both of which are incredible. We can get in there at anytime, our kids can hit whenever they feel like it. 00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:13.000 Our brand new science building; Ron and Norma Devolder Building. 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:17.000 Coming in the future, a brand new education building; our Health and Wellness Center 00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:23.000 All of those things are really very important for the success of our students here on campus. 00:06:23.000 --> 00:06:28.000 Our goals were to try and get to the NCAA tournament 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:34.000 And you know I was thinking four or five years that might take, but the players have really bought into our system. 00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:38.000 Now our goal is to reach even farther heights. 00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:42.000 Which is to get further into the NCAA tournament here in the future. 00:06:42.000 --> 00:06:47.000 Ashley Gardner: I would definitely recommend Western to anyone who is trying to choose between Western and another school. 00:06:52.000 --> 00:06:64.000 music
