I decided to come to Western to major in Contemporary Music because of all of the different musical styles that they offer here.

And they also offer a lot of different opportunities for me to perform.

For my degree this term, I'm taking a class called Oral Skills.

And in this class we sight read and sight sing, and basically use our musical theory of knowledge in actual singing and it's really good for me as a vocalist to practice these skills.

Another great thing about Western is that in the Music department,

we have a very close community and the faculty is easily accessable if you have any questions,

and it's just a fun environment to be apart of.

On campus I'm also involved in an acapella group called Suspended which is an all female acapella group we offer here.

I'm also involved in Western Hemisphere Voices which is an ensemble offered through a class,

And we've gotten to tour in that group as well as have many solo opportunities,

My career goal right now is to become a choir teacher,

and working with acapella club as well as Western Hemisphere Voices is helping me achieve this goal because I get to watch how other teachers are doing it.

I would definitely recommend Western Oregon to future musicians,
