20 May 2014 Academic Support Council Meeting Minutes
Call to order by Dave Sundby, ASC President at 10:10 a.m.
Attendance: Dave Sundby (president), Affie Eyo, Brad Huggins, Jesse Poole, Danielle Ambrose, Jerrie Lee Parpart (recorder),

1. Council Member Election Results
Appreciation heartily expressed for outgoing members service this academic year; Danielle A. (Academic Support Services), Earlee Kerekes-Mishra (Student Support Services) and Brad Huggins, completing the term for Joe Hutchins (Administrative Support Services).

60 ASC members voted and elected New ASC Council representatives:
Rosario (Maria) Peralta Cortez in the Writing Center (Academic Support Services)
Stacey Rainey in Disability Services (Student Support Services)
Brad Huggins in the Physical Plant (Administrative Support Services)

2. Discussion of the by-laws with regards to length of time an elected president can serve opened. Proposal: change the language of Article III. Section B. to read
The ASC President will serve no more than two years per elected term, with a new election held each year.

Move to Change by-laws by Brad H; Seconded (Jerrie Lee P)
Proposal passes with a vote of 5 yea; 0 nay; 0 abstain.

3. Election of 2014-2015 academic year ASC officers
ASC President:
(Not stated formally, but agreement all around in appreciation for the services of Dave Sundby has performed as ASC President during the 2013-2014 academic year.)
Call for volunteers for Nominations for ASC President
With the understanding that if President Weiss does not approve of the proposed by-law change, a new election of ASC President will be held at the next ASC meeting, Dave Sundby volunteered to serve another year.
Dave is nominated by Brad H; seconded by Jesse P
Dave Sundby accepts the nomination and is elected as the 2014-2015 ASC President with a vote of 4 yea; 0 nay; 0 abstain.

ASC Recorder:
Noted for the minutes appreciation of the service Jerrie Lee P as Recorder in the 2013-2014 academic year.
Call for volunteers or nominations. With no other volunteers, Jerrie Lee P volunteers to serve as Recorder another year.
Jerrie Lee P is nominated by Dave S; seconded by Jesse P.
Jerrie Lee Parpart accepts the nomination and is elected to service as the 2014-2015 ASC Recorder with a vote of 4 yea; 0 nay; 0 abstain.

3. Call for other business or announcement

A. WOU Governance officers for 2014-2015:
- Laurie Burton, Faculty Senate President
- Elayn Kuletz, Staff Senate President
- Corbin Garner, ASWOU President
[NOTE I did not catch the last name, someone please help me out.]

B. 14 names (plus the three fac/staf/stu) forwarded to Governor Mark describes as a very diverse group, with lots of alums

C. October 1st (letters to go out in August/September) unclassified professionals will likely receive of a 2-4% adjust in salary (includes possible a College & University Professional Association (CUPA) review adjustments)

D. Dave S: ASC Goals for next year
- Continue discussion with HR on performance evaluation consistency
- Brainstorm other topics for HR (non salary & benefit based)
- Participate in the University Presidential Search

E. Groundbreaking for the Richard Woodcock Education Center (RWEC) went well. Acknowledgement and gratitude for donations from Richard Woodcock for the building & for an endowed scholarship fund

F. Wolf Communication System (WCS) is getting a face lift. Grades First will be the new software platform, providing more efficient communication, note sharing, communication with BANNER and take WOU farther in the future than the current software.

Next meeting to be arranged. The hope is to meet one time during the summer.
