JC sites represent the northernmost RLMO communities we have surveyed. In August 2001, we joined a YNP GIS lab on the first survey of Joseph's Coat, measuring all thermal features as part of a major inventory project. Although 99% sites were red-negative and acidic, 2 alkaline red layer communities were found, the existence of which seems astounding given surrounding geochemistry. This dataset describes data from one of these sites, JC27.
