Sentinel Pool is located in the Lower Geyser Basin, in what is known as Sentinel Meadows. The meadows are accessed by trail from near Ojo Caliente. The trail forms a loop that enters Sentinel Meadow. Within the meadow are several popular and historic sites: Mound Spring and Queen's Laundry. In 2000, fully surveyed adjacent features and discovered an interesting spring with orange puffs that resembled Heliothrix oregonensis, the prototype Green Non-Sulfur (GNS) organism for this study. To date, however, we have found no evidence of GNS organisms in the puffs - despite obvious filaments. As such, this site has become an interesting "negative study site."
