9-Month Unclassified Sick Leave Reporting
Policy Details

Issuing Department: Budget/Payroll Office  
Subject: 9-Month Unclassified Sick Leave Reporting Latest Revision Date: February 01, 1998

    POLICY

    Full time unclassified employees (1.00 FTE) accrue eight (8) hours of sick 
    leave monthly and part-time unclassified employees accrue a prorated amount.  
    Graduate Assistants and unclassified employees under .50 FTE are not eligible 
    to accrue or use sick leave.  Sick leave is not earned or used during 
    sabbatical leave or leave without pay.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    

    PURPOSE

    To provide salary continuance during absence from work due to illness.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    

    PROCEDURES

    Approximately one to two (1-2) weeks prior to the end of each term, 
    Division Chairs are sent the following materials to be returned within one 
    (1) week after the end of the term to the Faculty Payroll Coordinator:
    
         a.  A letter outlining the procedures.
         b.  An alpha/FTE listing by department.
         c.  Sick leave forms for each individual on the list.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    

    AUTHORITY

    Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 580-021-0040 outlines all the 
    provisions for unclassified sick leave use, accrual, transfer, and 
    termination, as well as worker's compensation integration.  OAR 580-021-
    0035 covers the reassignment of work after illness longer than one (1)

    APPROVAL

    The dean or department head that approves the sick leave form is 
    responsible for accurate reporting of sick leave usage.
    
    Sick leave records including accrual, usage, and leave balances are 
    maintained in the Faculty Payroll Office.
