FULL STATEMENT OF AUTHORITY | |
POLICY STATEMENT Accommodations and auxiliary aids are provided to ensure full accessibility to activities on WOU's campus that are available to the community. In this case, community members refer to persons who utilize and attend WOU functions but are not WOU students, faculty or staff.
PROCEDURES It is the intent of the Office of Disability Services to make individual departments and divisions as self-sufficient as possible when they provide accommodations to community members with disabilities. Auxiliary Aids: An auxiliary aid is a service or device that persons with disabilities can use to minimize disability related barriers. Auxiliary aids include, but are not limited to, sign language interpreters, note takers or materials needed in an alternate format. If a department or an event on campus needs assistance to provide auxiliary aids or accommodations please contact the Office of Disability Services. When advertising on campus for an event, it is the policy for clubs, organizations, departments and divisions is to include a statement on the advertisement to communicate with the community how to request disability related accommodations. Please include the following statements on emails, posters and other forms of advertisements: "If you have a disability that may require some accommodation in order to participate in a Western Oregon University activity, please notify the Office of Disability Services at 503-838-8250 or ods@wou.edu at least 72 hours in advance. | |
