POLICY STATEMENT Each residence hall student computer that is connected to the WOU network is required to have a current working version of auto-updating anti-virus software. Each residence hall student computer that is connected to the WOU network and uses the Windows 7, Windows 8.x or Mac OS X operating system, will be required to have the operating system auto-update service active.
PROCEDURES Security will be turned on for all Residence Hall networking switches. Student residence hall computers will be allowed access to the WOU network when it has been verified that the following criteria exists: • The student has auto-updating anti-virus software installed on their student computer with the auto-update option turned on. The auto-update license must be valid while the computer is attached to the WOU network. • WOU will install auto-update anti-virus protection on each residence hall computer that does not meet the above criteria. • Computers attached to the WOU network will not be allowed on the network with peer-to-peer applications installed. | |
