The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is responsible to coordinate the provision of educational auxiliary aids and accommodations to students and community members with documented disabilities. Provision of auxiliary aids and accommodations is to ensure that students with disabilities are able to participate in the college's educational programs, services and activities. | |

DEFINITIONS ADA: Americans with Disabilities Act ODS: Office of Disability Services
POLICY STATEMENT Once a student has been accepted into WOU, students with documented disabilities that are seeking auxiliary aids and/or accommodations are required to register with the Office of Disability Services. Students are highly encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services to apply for services and provide necessary documentation as soon as possible.
PROCEDURES Students must complete an online application in Accessible Information Management (AIM) and upload disability documentation. The online application for services can be found at: http://www.wou.edu/student/disability/future_student.php (see relevant documents and links for link) Once a student is approved for auxiliary aids and/or accommodations, they will be provided an orientation provided either individually or in small groups. Once a student has received an orientation on how to request auxiliary aids and/or accommodations it is the students’ sole responsibility to request such services when needed to participate in programs, classes or services at WOU. While ODS will make every effort to be expedient in the provision of services, requests submitted with minimal notice, will most likely experience a delay in service provision. Requests for an educational an auxiliary aid for an out of classroom activity (lecture, club meeting, etc.), Disability Services requires a minimum of 72 hours advance notice. However, educational auxiliary aids will be provided as quickly as possible and will be dependent upon the availability of service providers. | |
