WEBVTT 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.000 music 00:00:04.000 --> 00:00:07.000 music 00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:12.000 music 00:00:12.000 --> 00:00:16.000 music 00:00:16.000 --> 00:00:19.000 The main way I would describe it is it's definitely a championship style course 00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:23.000 because you can fit up to 250-450 people on the course and it's really 00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:27.000 not gonna make much of a difference. We're 10 meters wide everywhere. 00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:31.000 We have races everywhere from 10K to 2K. We have middle school races that are 3K. 00:00:31.000 --> 00:00:34.000 Collegiate races, usually GNAC meets are important meets, 5K & 8K. 00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:36.000 And regionals obviously regionals run around 6K & 10K. 00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:41.000 These berms right here are the Taruscio Berms and so after Randi Lydum. 00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:44.000 She's our compliance director and really follows and supports 00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:46.000 cross country and track n field here and works with us. 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:50.000 And then Brady Beagley, the assistant coach here for 3-4 years. 00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:52.000 And so the Beagley Bumps are on the back of the course. 00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:55.000 And some of the newer bumps were added in the last couple years. 00:00:55.000 --> 00:00:60.000 What I like about this course is that we are able to do the berms more than once 00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:03.000 because it makes the course like fun and different. 00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:06.000 I've race this I think about 5 times so I'm really familiar with the course. 00:01:06.000 --> 00:01:11.000 So that's good. And, yeah, I like the course so I'm excitied 00:01:11.000 --> 00:01:12.000 to keep racing on it my last year. 00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:16.000 Today I just wanna go out relaxed and confident and just be able to 00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:19.000 push towards the end and have a good last mile. 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:24.000 My favorite part about this course is how easy it is for spectators 00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:26.000 as well as the bumps. They're kind of deceiving. 00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:30.000 It looks like a pretty flat course but after a couple times of getting around 00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:33.000 you have to really know what's coming up or it will surprise you. 00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:36.000 Just like it's my favorite part, it's also my least favorite part. 00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:40.000 The bumps and berms can get pretty hard as you go through the race 00:01:40.000 --> 00:01:42.000 But it shows whose tough and whose not. 00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:46.000 Oh man, on the back side of the course it's usually really quiet. 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:48.000 Like you guys don't see much going on. 00:01:48.000 --> 00:01:51.000 There's really not much going on other than us running. 00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:54.000 Sometimes there's one or two people back there cheering. 00:01:54.000 --> 00:01:56.000 It's easy to get kinda worried 00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:57.000 or start to question yourself back there. 00:01:57.000 --> 00:01:62.000 My plan for today is to go out, stay relaxed, be smooth and confident 00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:05.000 and finish really strong through the last 2K of the race. 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:08.000 So having competed here on Ash Creek some of the things I talk about 00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:11.000 with some of the athletes is that it's deceivingly a pretty tough course. 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:14.000 The bumps are a little more aggressive especially when you're doing em 00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:16.000 a couple times, in a couple loops. 00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:18.000 The grass can still be pretty fatiguing. It's not like quite like fairway grass 00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:21.000 on a golf course. It is a traditional cross country course. 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:25.000 And so definitely kinda saving some for a good finish. 00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:30.000 And so having really good rhythm especially with a lot of different changes on the course. 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:36.000 music 00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:40.000 music 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:43.000 music
