WEBVTT 00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:12.000 Hello, my name is Nathan Sauer and I'm a classroom services technician here at Western Oregon University 00:00:12.000 --> 00:00:19.000 In this video I'd like to introduce you to the technology we have in our smart classrooms here at WOU 00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:22.000 and give you a brief overview of how to effectively use them 00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:27.000 first let's look at what kinds of equipment and technology are available 00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:30.000 in a WOU smart classroom 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:33.000 currently we have almost 100 smartclassrooms 00:00:33.000 --> 00:00:38.000 including smaller single projector classrooms, dual projector classrooms and auditoriums 00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:42.000 along with Mac, PC, and thin client, computer labs 00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:46.000 every smart classroom has a network touch panel and a control system, 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:50.000 a high definition document camera a console computer 00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:54.000 an AV interface to plug in a laptop, camcorder, or other multimedia device 00:00:54.000 --> 00:00:61.000 a dvd/bluray player and a high quality 2 channel or multi channel surround audio system. 00:01:01.000 --> 00:01:07.000 some of our larger auditorium smart classrooms also have IP video conferencing systems 00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:14.000 every smart classroom has its own phone, so fast technical support is available by calling the UCS service request line. 00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:19.000 now lets take a few minutes to talk about how these systems function 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:25.000 the touch panel is the main controller for each smart classroom 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:29.000 touch it again to get to the security screen 00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:33.000 enter the passcode and choose what you would like to display 00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:40.000 let's say you'd like to display something on the center camera from the document screen 00:01:40.000 --> 00:01:44.000 select the document camera as the projector one source 00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:50.000 this will turn the document camera on, turn the projector on, and switch the projector to that source 00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:55.000 because this room has electric screens each screen automatically drops into place 00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:59.000 to display the computer on the other screen, 00:01:59.000 --> 00:01:62.000 select the computer button as the projector two source 00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:06.000 make sure the computer is turned on and not in standby mode 00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:11.000 log into the computer with your WOU username and password 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:14.000 now you're ready to present content from the computer 00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:18.000 to have sound from the computerm select computer as your audio source 00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:24.000 this will automatically turn on the amplifier, switch the computer and switch the volume to a default low level 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:28.000 just in case someone using the system before you turned up the volume 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:34.000 using the touch screen you can easily adjust the volume or mute the audio completely 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:38.000 our smart classroom systems are designed so you'll have a lot of flexibility 00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:41.000 in how you're able to display content for your students. 00:02:41.000 --> 00:02:48.000 for exmple, if you want to switch the content on the screens, just press the button of the source you'd like to display on that projector 00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:52.000 if you want the document camera to display on the other screen, 00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:55.000 select that as the source on projector two. 00:02:55.000 --> 00:02:61.000 or if you'd like the computer displayed on both screens, press the computer button as the source on both projectors. 00:03:01.000 --> 00:03:08.000 showing a bluray or DVD is just as easy, chose which projector you'd like to show your video on 00:03:08.000 --> 00:03:13.000 I'm going to select projector one, so I will press the bluray button under projector one. 00:03:13.000 --> 00:03:18.000 you'll notice the audio automatically switches to bluray as its source source 00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:22.000 and you'll see the transport controls pop up on the touch panel 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:28.000 press the eject button, put your bluray or DVD into the bluray player and select play. 00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:32.000 if you're preparing for class and turn the projectors on 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:37.000 but you don't want to display the video yet, press the blank screen button to display a black screen. 00:03:37.000 --> 00:03:42.000 this allows you to quickly play the video and not wait for the projector to warm up 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:47.000 when you're finished using the system make sure to log off of the computer. 00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:56.000 then press the all off button on the bottom of the touch panel, this will turn all the components of the system off. 00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:59.000 and raise the screens 00:03:59.000 --> 00:03:65.000 at Western, we want to make sure the technology you use in your classroom is reliable and easy to use. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:12.000 if you have any issues with the equipment, need the passcode, or would like one of
