WEBVTT 00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:12.000 Hi, my name is Brian Sly-Haley with the Moodle support team at Western Oregon University. Today we are going to talk about Moodle. 00:00:12.000 --> 00:00:22.000 The University uses Moodle to deliver all our online classes. Were going to show you how to log in for the very first time and how to get around the very basics of the features of the system 00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:29.000 The first thing you want to do when you log in is fire up the internet and navigate to wou.edu/portal 00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:38.000 That will take you to the login page, where you will use your pawprint ID, that is also the username and password you use to access email and other online services with the university. 00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:46.000 Once you get here hit login. This will log you in to not only the Western system but also to the Google apps that we use. 00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:56.000 When you land on the Portal homepage you will be able to access a lot of online services from Gmail to WolfWeb, the one we care about today is Moodle. 00:00:56.000 --> 00:00:65.000 One your logged into Moodle, the first page your going to land on is your MyMoodle homepage. This is really your homepage for everything thats Moodle related. 00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:12.000 When you get here, in the middle of the page you will find a welcome message that says 'Welcome Brian' or whoever you are. 00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:22.000 There is a list of all the classes your enrolled in. The cool thing about this version about Moodle, is it will also bring up little notifications for you saying 'assignment due this week' or 'there is a new forum post 00:01:22.000 --> 00:01:28.000 It gives you little reminders to know where you need to really focus your attention right now. 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:39.000 The other thing you will notice in the upper left hand corner is this 'help where is my class?' box, this is actually an announcement box where you will find different announcements from time to time. 00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:46.000 It has different features that are added or system upgrades, so if there is something there, you might want to take just a few seconds to look through it. 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:55.000 On the right side of the screen, is this dashboard tasks box. Thats where you can request a new class, or if you run into an issue with the system you can report an issue. 00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:67.000 That will send an Email to the Moodle support team. If you want to bypass that and you want to contact us directly you can reach us by email by sending an email to moodle@wou.edu 00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:12.000 Or if you are on campus you can call the Moodle support team at 89300 00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:17.000 Those are the basic functions of Moodle, thank you for watching this video and we will see you around Moodle next time.
